The writers felt the need to put a joke in every 10 seconds, regardless of whether it's clever or not.
Granted, the biggest issue I had with this was that the humor just does not land most of the time.
I'm pleased to report that the trailer showcases some of the worst parts of the movie. The Secret Life of Pets might not take the world by storm the way the Minions have, but it still looks to be a whole load of fun for families and pet owners to enjoy this summer.I'll admit, the trailer for this movie made me groan every time I saw it over the past few months. The trailer makes this movie seem similar to Disney's Oliver, or Lady and the Tramp in terms of plotline, but that's not to say it can't bring something fresh and new. Along the way, they encounter a whole host of pets including Snowball ( Kevin Hart), the fluffiest, cutest, underground pet gang lord we've ever seen. This trailer hints at a difficult journey ahead for Max and Duke as they try to make it back home. Max clearly doesn't take too kindly to this, and the two end up getting picked up by the pound. Of course, there's more to the movie as well, and this trailer shows the pampered terrier, Max, getting a rude awakening when his owner brings home an adopted brother, Duke, to join the family. From Max (Louis C.K.) sitting by the door waiting for his beloved owner to return, to Leonard the Poodle rocking out, it looks as though The Secret Life of Pets is a very enviable one indeed. The Secret Life of Pets aims to address the question of what our pets get up to when we're not home, and the little glimpses we get of that in the trailer are probably the funniest parts. Some like them, some loathe them, but there's no denying that Illumination has talent at delivering visual humor which appeals to adults and children alike. The Secret Life of Pets comes from Illumination Entertainment, who are thus far most well known for bringing Minions into the world.
Other actors voicing characters in the movie have previous voiceover experience Albert Brooks is the voice of Marlin in Finding Nemo and the upcoming sequel, Finding Dory, while Steve Coogan has voiced characters in both Despicable Me 2 and Minions. The Secret Life of Pets features an all-star voice cast, but this is the first animated feature film for Louis C.K, Kevin Hart, and Eric Stonestreet.
